Details: Stunning flamed satin birch Biedermeier wardrobe armoire circa 1840. This piece is not only beautiful, but functional with the left side compartment allowing for shelves (adjustable brackets included, but not the shelves) and the right side opening to a spacious closet complete with a removable hanging bar, 3 hooks in the back that hang from a concave shelf that measures 6.5"h to the top of the armoire. The light wood in addition to the piece being raised on simple, yet shapely legs, gives this piece an element of airiness that softened the rigidity of the Empire style and made the delicacy of Directoire durable in the 1800's. Stylistically, the simplicity, sophistication and functionality of Biedermeier pieces is what makes them so popular even today. The dark finial and four floral medallions on the corners of the beveled mirror give the piece some contrast. Two new keys have been made to secure the piece and turn smoothly.
Dimensions: 60.5"w x 23.75"d x 84"h (with finial attached)
Left interior: 13.75"w x 20.5"d x 64"h
Condition: The piece is in beautiful condition, however, the top finial has been broken off and fits exactly into its place. It has not been reattached to prevent it from breaking again in shipping, yet can be done upon request. The interior is clean and free of any off putting odors. The lower left side veneer has two chips and there is a bit of drying and warping in one spot (see photos).
