Details: Bokharas are a type of handmade Pakistani rug; also known as Bukharas or Bokaras. Most are based on Turkmen prototypes called Tekkes. Pakistani Bokhara rugs are among the most popular handmade rugs in the world. They are popular for their soft, luxurious feel, medium pile, attractive colors and appearance that consist of repeating octagonal figures called guls, usually on fields of burgundy red, gray blue, or sometimes green. This particular hand knotted rug has a vibrant geometric, layered border in an emerald green and ecru color scheme on a crimson field with tiny black border accents and pristine white woven and knotted fringe. Purchased in 1996.
