Details: Oil on canvas after the original titled "A Market Boat on the Scheldt" painted in 1826 by Clarkson Frederick Stanfield RA RBA (1793-1867), who was a prominent English painter, best known for his large-scale paintings of dramatic marine subjects and landscapes. He was the father of the painter George Clarkson Stanfield and the composer Francis Stanfield. The painting depicts a small vessel bringing supplies to large ships anchored in a clear, yet turbulent sea under a dramatic sky with wonderful movement in the clouds. Signed "Stanfield" in the lower left corner. The painting is housed in a muted gold painted frame, embellished with ornate floral, scroll and shell motif and has a brass plate in the bottom center with the title, artist and date.

Condition: There is some slight "crazing" on the canvas, yet no major flaws. The frame does have some cracks (see detailed photos). Artwork can be shipped without the frame-please inquire.
