Details: 18th century Flemish blanket trunk or coffer featuring three panels of carved figural scenes surmounting a scalloped apron (which is rare to find on a blanket chest of this sort) with a shell in the center and raised on shapely legs. The piece has been refinished along its journey in a rich, light blonde with gold hues (which has preserved the piece well) and has new brass hinges. The top of the piece is smooth with rounded corner and a decorative carved edge. Lovely geometric carved designs on the sides. The back of the piece is finished and has 3 panels, however, is not carved. This makes a great coffee table, end table or storage chest at the end of a bed or in a hallway!
Dimensions: 47"w x 21"d x 26"h (50lbs)
Condition: The interior has been finished as well and is free of odors or debris. The top of the piece is comprised of planks of wood and has some narrow gaps, yet is even. One crack that looks as if it is a natural part of the wood and one water glass mark.
