Details: Antique miniature roll top desk that was presumably done by a marquetry apprentice to showcase the various patterns of his craft. The piece has 2 small lacquered drawers with rudimentary brass pulls under the roll top which features a flower on a diamond inlaid background. Tiny marquetry borders around the edges of the 2 lower drawers without pulls on the top edge and sides, which boast intricately bordered sunburst designs. Dovetail construction on the back of the piece. Exact age and origin unknown, however, believed to be from Italy around the early 19th century. This piece makes a wonderful jewelry box or to store small items on a life size desk!
Dimensions: 11.5"w x 8.5"d x 10.5"h (6 1/2 lbs)
Condition: In excellent condition consistent with age. The roll top opens and closes well, but needs to be kept in the arched groove track.
