Details: Hand painted Brazilian armoire featuring a charming courtship scene of a boy and girl monkey in British Colonial style dress with a large palm frond in the background. He appears to be playing the mandolin for her, while she listens with a blue parrot perched on her hand. The sides of the armoire are embellished with framed scrolled motifs on both the top and bottom. The cabinet doors of the top can be folded back with the opposable hinges to reveal a dark stained, planked inner compartment (38.5"w x 23"d x 30"h) with a hole for media cables and an upper shelf (38.5"w x 22"d x 9"h). There are wooden latches on the lower insides of each door to secure them. The top surmounts three large drawers measuring 33"w x 20.25"d x 7"h. The distressed avocado green finish with burnished red accents, along with the antique iron hinges, heavy drawer pulls and key hole (key included), give this piece a whimsical, Old World feel.
