Details: Contemporary realism oil on canvas still life by Kenyan born artist Stephen Namara (b.1953-), who came to America in 1974 and currently resides in San Francisco as a Contemporary American Realist. The artist is not so much concerned with the details, yet rather how light is reflected and absorbed by the objects he captures, which is revealed in this bold, colorful still life featuring a vibrant orange, a crisp green apple, a partially cut watermelon, a richly hued eggplant, a couple of bananas and a red pepper showcased in a shallow bowl surmounting a white table linen, which is the relevant subject of most of the canvas. Signed "Namara" at the bottom right hand corner. This piece was purchased from the Haines Gallery in the summer of 1988. Beautifully framed in a gold frame with modern wood grain sides. Framed by "The Painters Place" in San Francisco, CA in 2012.
