Details: Antique "practice tablet" in Arabic calligraphy circa 1905. These wooden tablets were used to help students learn scripture from The Koran in Moroccan Madrasah (Islamic college). It is a tradition that dates back for centuries. The tablets were painted with quill pens dipped in ink and then washed clean in water. They were later inscribed again after the verses were memorized. This beautiful relic is especially wonderful when placed in front of a mirror so the back can also be seen! We have two others available without and without a stand (see photos) and visit our store to purchase.
