Details: Set of 4 vintage limoges porcelain plates showing Malevich's (1875-1935) costume designs for "La Victoire Sur de Soleil" or "Victory over the Sun" dated 1913. Produced by Philippe Deshoulieres for Maison Rouge and authorized by St. Petersburg Theater Museum. One of the first abstract artists of the 20th century, he was a painter, a draftsman, a sculptor and the theorist who was the creator of an artistic movement he called "Suprematism". Each plate has a different colored band and features: "Le Bagarreur" (blue rim), "L'ennemi" (yellow rim), "Un Certain Malintentionné" (green rim) and "Les Nouveaux" (plum rim). A very unique set that is hard to find and a wonderful conversation piece. Also available is a smaller set of black & white plates (see photo) if more are desired.
