Details: Antique English brass telescope on adjustable oak tripod stand with peg construction by Negretti & Zambra (London).The 51" long brass telescope has a 915 mm range and a 13.5" high adjustable brass pole that is secured into the center of the tripod. The tripod legs can be adjusted by wing nuts and has a wooden knob to tighten and secure at the neck. Included is the original pine storage box with dovetail constructed corners. Henry Negretti (1818–1879) and Joseph Zambra (1822–1897) formed a partnership in 1850, thereby founding the firm which would eventually be appointed to opticians and scientific instrument makers for Her Majesty Queen Victoria, Prince Albert and King Edward VII, the Royal Observatory and the British Admiralty. Henry Negretti was born in Como, Italy and Joseph Zambra was born in Saffron Walden. A wonderful decorative piece to add nautical flair to a room and further enjoy a home with a marvelous view!

Condition: The telescope is missing the lens cover, however, retains the original glass lens and upper side sight (with lens) and has been re-brassed, realigned and is in working condition. Slight patina on the tripod's brass hardware. There are a few very minor nicks on the wooden tripod (see detailed photos).
