XL 16th Century French Square Iron Fireback

Details: Massive 16th century French square iron fireback featuring a dome shaped frame depicting a beaded crown surmounting a rounded crest with a central medallion flanked by foliage and berries. The exterior is embellished with five Crosses of Lorraine, also known as the Cross of Anjou in the 16th century, which is a heraldic two-barred cross, consisting of a vertical line crossed by two shorter horizontal bars. These fireback are intended for use in the back of a fireplace to help radiate heat, however, are also wonderful for ornamentation in a garden or anywhere outdoors!

Dimensions: 38"w x 1.5"d x 36"h (200 lbs-Heavy!)

Condition: In beautiful rustic condition consistent with age.
