Details: Pair of 42" antique Italian pediments featuring a hand carved oval crest surmounted with a spray of acanthus leaves in the center of each piece flanked by a scrolled relief design. The pair is finished in a distressed, white washed paint with subtle hints of orange and gold under paint, that appear to be from the original color scheme when these pieces were designed to adorn the doorways of a building. Originally purchased as architectural salvage from a French Antique Importer for $2400 each.
Dimensions of Each: 42.25"w x 2"d x 7.5"h (10.5 lbs)
Condition: Condition is consistent with age. Despite a few chipped acanthus leaves, the wood is structurally sound. One piece appears to be a bit darker, however, just has a bit more of the underpaint exposed and is not noticeably different when hung (see detailed photos). The pediments are approximately the same size despite how they appear due to the angle of the photograph.
