Antique Federal Eagle Crested Gilt Convex Mirror

$ 6,500.00 $ 3,250.00
SKU: G2AF5S

Details: Early 19th century hand carved wood Federal mirror with a 15" diameter convex mirror. This stunning piece features a carved eagle surmounting ornately carved acanthus leaves at the top and tapering to a point at the bottom, as well as, some open work scroll around the frame of the mirror with an outer ball detail. Finished in a burnished gold gilt with dark undertones. Exact age and origin unknown. Ready to hang with two hooks on the back! Originally purchased for $9750 in 2007.

Dimensions: 31"w x 3"d x 60"h (approximately 20lbs)

Condition: In beautiful condition, however, there is evidence of repairs done to the eagle's wings and some of the gold gilt finish is chipped in places, albeit very minor (see detailed photos). The frame is structurally sound and the superficial crack by the bird on the crest has been reinforced, which cannot be seen when hung. The mirror is believed to be original, as it shows a few minor age spots consistent with age.
