Details: Early 20th century large Burmese offering bowl with lid, featuring six distinctive ribs adorned with a subtle, primitively carved, alternating swag design and lacquered in red. Raised on six carved feet with alternating arches. Woven bamboo is lacquered in layers - first black and then red, achieving the distinctive look of Burmese lacquerware, which explains the subtle texture and hints of black that show through the finish. Note the artist's signature carved into the underside of the vessel. This piece makes a wonderful statement as a catchall for storage with the lid, as well as, a fabulous decorative container for floral arrangements (specifically orchids) with the highly lacquered interior.
