Details: One of a kind, pair of late 19th century French walnut veneer "ciel de lit". Each bed canopy features a central hand carved flower flanked by long, arched leaves and has two turned finials on each of the front ends of the serpentine sides. The pieces can be mounted on the ceiling by the center disc conjoined by radial supports or secured onto a studded wall by the support along the back. The interior is lined with an aqua color silk that matched the curtains that were previously swagged from the canopy, but have since been removed. A "ciel de lit" is a wonderful way to create a romantic, Old World aura in your bedroom by mounting above the headboard of your bed with sheers, lace or opulent fabric depending on the light desired.
Dimensions: 50"w x 33"d x 9"h (15 lbs each)
Condition: In beautiful condition with no chips or cracks. The photo of the single bed canopy best reflects the grain and color of the wood, which was challenging to photograph as a pair.
